How to Take Profit on Meme Coins: Sell 80% at 4x, Trail the Rest, Let Banana Gun Press the Button

Decide the exit before you buy. On Banana Gun you paste the contract, set a sell limit order for 80% of your tokens at +300% (4x), and plan the last 20% with a Trailing Stop Loss, so the sale happens whether you are watching or asleep.

Entries get the research and exits get improvised. A rule written down before the buy removes the decision from the moment when greed is loudest.

The setup below takes a few taps and uses settings Banana Gun already has. You can read the automate trades with limit orders guide for the wider picture.

Why do meme coin gains slip away?

A gain is unrealized until you sell. A position that shows a big gain on your screen has paid you nothing, and small caps can hand the whole move back.

The trap is the thought “it could still double”, repeated at every level on the way up and on the way down.

Manual exits also depend on you being awake and near your phone. A limit order does not. Limit orders work on the buy side too, as this guide to meme coin limit orders shows.

How do you set a 4x take-profit on a Telegram trading bot?

Open the Banana Gun Telegram trading bot and paste the token’s contract address into the chat. Then tap Setup Sell Limit Order and fill in the fields in this order.

  • Tokens: set 80, the percentage of your tokens the order sells
  • Active: how long the order lives before it expires
  • Take Profit: choose it instead of Stop Loss
  • Trigger: a percentage change in Market Cap or Token Price, set to 300

The arithmetic is simple. Buy 0.5 SOL, and at +300% your position is worth about 2 SOL. The order sells 80%, which is about 1.6 SOL back before fees and slippage, and the remaining 20% is worth about 0.4 SOL at that moment.

The 1.6 SOL covers your original 0.5 SOL, so the remaining 20% is the part still exposed to the market. Orders show up under “Limit Order Overview” and “Pending Limit Orders” if you want to edit or cancel one.

What should you do with the last 20%?

The options sit in the same Setup Sell Limit Order screen. Trailing Stop Loss raises its trigger each time the price makes a new high, so it follows the coin up and sells when the price falls to the raised trigger.

The other option is a fresh take-profit at a higher target. A trailing stop suits you if you would rather let the chart decide where the top was.

Why 4x and not 2x or 10x?

The target is a multiple, and multiples depend on the starting market cap. A token at $150K needs $600K to reach 4x. A token at $5M needs $20M.

Large caps make this clear. On CoinGecko on 8 Oct 2026, BONK sat at a $288M market cap, so 4x means about $1.15B. That needs a huge amount of new money, which is why a 4x rule belongs on small caps.

The conversion is mechanical. +100% is 2x, +200% is 3x, +300% is 4x and +400% is 5x. Pick the number your coin and your patience can realistically reach, then keep it for the next trade too.

How do whales take profit?

Public on-chain data, pulled 8 Oct 2026, shows two Solana wallets that sell often. Over 30 days, frank (498g1rVnFcnjBjpfw1xyqA1WvgQXUU8RWuELjxkjAayQ) made 702 buys and 736 sells, about one sell per buy.

Unipcs (2heJbC32Tpfcb3nbUb5ER61K11FGZVfVGtVnDm6LDogF) made 65 buys and 199 sells over the same window. It sold about three times as often as it bought, which fits selling positions in several pieces.

Those counts say how often each wallet sold and nothing about the price or the token behind each sale.

Copy Trade has a Copy Sells toggle if you want to mirror a wallet’s sells, or you can keep your own rule and leave Copy Sells off. Either way the Telegram trading bot executes it for you.

When does this exit plan fail?

A take-profit that is never reached never sells. If the coin rolls over before your 4x level, the order sits untouched and you ride the fall.

Setup Sell Limit Order asks you to choose Take Profit or Stop Loss, so a take-profit order carries no downside protection of its own. Choose which risk you cover before you buy, because a 4x target does nothing on the way down.

Check the Active time too. An order with a short window can expire before the price gets there, and then you hold with no exit at all.

Fills also differ from triggers. Thin small caps move through your level quickly, and the price you receive can land below it once slippage applies.

The 4x and the 80% are settings you choose, not expected results. The order only helps on a coin that reaches the level.
