The XRP price today was $1.56 on the CoinGecko reading at 10:54 UTC on 25 September 2026, up 6.5% in 24 hours and 17.0% over seven days. It has moved since. Here is what pushes it and where to read it live.
Bitcoin gained 8.4% over the same week, so XRP outran the market by two to one. That gap, not the dollar figure, is the first thing to read off a live quote.
What a live XRP quote is really made of
There is no official XRP price. Kraken prints its last completed trade, TradingView draws whichever exchange feed you pick, and CoinGecko blends dozens of venues into a volume-weighted average that trails any single order book by a beat.
The same venue gap that makes two sites quote a different Ethereum price in the same second applies to XRP. Treat a quote as one venue’s opinion and compare quotes against each other, not against the headline.
The Crypto Fear and Greed Index printed 71, labelled Greed, on each of the three days to 25 September. The tape was set by buyers already leaning in.

Regulatory headlines hit XRP harder than any other large coin
XRP spent almost five years as the defendant’s token in SEC v. Ripple, so its chart still reacts to Washington in a way Bitcoin’s does not. The case ended on 7 August 2025 with a joint stipulation dismissing both appeals.
The district court’s final judgment stayed in force: a civil penalty of $125,035,150 and an injunction against Ripple violating the registration provisions of the Securities Act. The SEC records both in Litigation Release 26369.
In March 2026 the SEC and CFTC issued a joint interpretation, effective 23 March 2026, that names XRP among its examples of digital commodities, in the same list as Bitcoin and Ether.
The Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, H.R. 3633, failed a Senate cloture vote 49 to 50 on 15 September 2026, and a motion to reconsider was entered the same day, per congress.gov. Any movement on that motion is an XRP headline first.
Settled legal status has not meant a settled price. XRP set its all-time high of $3.65 on 17 July 2025, three weeks before the appeals were dismissed, and traded 57% below it on the day this was written.
Listings and ETF wrappers change who is allowed to buy
Access moves price because it moves the buyer pool. Coinbase suspended XRP trading on 19 January 2021 after the SEC complaint and relisted it on 13 July 2023. Both dates are on Coinbase’s announcement page.
An ETF does the same job through a brokerage account. Whether a Grayscale XRP ETF adds net buying depends on flows you can only read after the fact, so the news moves the price before the data exists.
Escrow releases and whale transfers, and why most are noise
Ripple locked 55 billion XRP into on-ledger escrows in December 2017. Up to one billion can be released each month, and what Ripple does not use goes back into a new escrow, per Ripple’s own explainer. The release is a ceiling, not a sale.
Whale Alert flags large XRP transfers as they happen. Most are exchange-to-exchange or cold-to-hot shuffles that never touch an order book. A transfer into an exchange is a possible sale, nothing more.
The XRP rich list problem applies here too. One address can hold many customers’ coins, so a headline about a whale is often a headline about an exchange rebalancing its wallets.
Where to track the XRP price live and what each source is good for
Use an exchange for the trade you would actually get, a charting tool for context, an aggregator for the cross-venue average, and the ledger itself for supply.
- Kraken’s XRP page shows the last trade and the order book behind it, the number you can act on.
- TradingView’s XRPUSD chart switches between exchange feeds and overlays Bitcoin, so you can see whether a move is XRP-specific.
- CoinGecko gives the volume-weighted average across venues, plus the public API that produced every figure here.
- The XRP Ledger explorer at livenet.xrpl.org shows escrow releases and large transfers on the chain itself.
A reading is a starting point, not a forecast. The sites that turn today’s number into next year’s target are the ones that keep getting XRP wrong, and no live feed fixes that.

Frequently asked questions
Why do two sites show a different XRP price today?
Each exchange reports its own last trade, and aggregators average several of them with a short lag. Pairs priced in USDT rather than dollars add a small conversion gap. A spread of a fraction of a percent is normal, and it widens when volume thins.
Does the XRP price follow Bitcoin?
Most days, yes, in direction. The size of the move differs, and that difference is the signal. Over the seven days to 25 September XRP rose 17.0% while Bitcoin rose 8.4%, which points to XRP-specific buying rather than a market-wide tide.
Is the XRP price today a good time to buy?
This site does not call entries, and nobody who does can show you a track record. What you can check is whether a move is XRP-specific or market-wide, and whether the headline behind it is a ruling or a rumour.
